Description
Tilemaster Trade Flexi Rapid – Single Part Floor & Wall Tile Adhesive
Tilemaster Trade Flexi Rapid – Single Part Floor & Wall Tile Adhesive is a single part, flexible, fast setting tile adhesive, specially formulated for fixing to substrates with limited movement or vibration such as underfloor heating, plywood overlay and plaster dry lining panels. FlexiRapid is suitable for fixing most common tiles such as ceramic, mosaics, porcelain, vitrified and natural stone tiles. Its rapid setting capability allows for light foot traffic after 3 hours. FlexiRapid is suitable for use internally and externally and is unaffected by frost after setting. When set, the adhesive is water resistant and is suitable for use in swimming pools. When mixed with Flexmaster additive, FlexiRapid is suitable for a wider range of substrates/surfaces.
Uses
Preparation of the substrate:
Before starting, all substrates must be clean, dry and strong enough to support the weight of the tiles and adhesive. Remove all dust, dirt, oil, grease and other contaminants that may affect adhesion.
Application of the product:
Only mix small quantities at a time until you have become accustomed to the fast setting nature of the product. Always mix powder to water and mix to a buttery consistency, never add water after initial mixing, as this will impair the strength of the
adhesive. As an approximate guide for powder to water ratio, 20kg of powder requires approximately 4.2 – 4.6 litres of water. Product that has started to set must be discarded. On flat, even substrate where dry conditions exist, apply adhesive to substrate as a thin floated coat at a uniform thickness of 3mm – 6mm and then rib using a notched trowel or spreader. Bed tiles into adhesive using a twisting action ensuring full coverage of adhesive between tile and substrate. Where tiling is subject to frequent wet condition such as in showers, in addition, apply as a solid bed a thin layer of adhesive to the back of the tile before applying to the substrate. Where substrate conditions do not allow thin bed fixing, adhesive should be applied to substrate as a floated coat 3mm to 6mm in thickness or locally up to 12mm in thickness. Ensure there are no hollow spaces or pockets of air. Ensure the adhesive is still moist and there is full coverage when tiles are pressed into place with a twist action. Adhesive should also be applied to the back of deep studded tiles to cover the studs. When fixing large format tiles it is highly recommended to skim the back of the tile with a thin 1mm layer of adhesive. This will significantly improve the bond strength.
